A High School Streamed Like a Broadcast: The Mater Dei Graduation Story

Mater Dei High School had long treated graduation as its biggest annual event, and this year they wanted families across the country to experience it live. The challenge: capture a multi-camera show inside a large venue and deliver a broadcast-quality stream—on a high-school budget.

Using LiveU Studio, the team built a full cloud-production workflow within minutes. Lower thirds and Tagboard graphics, supported by Social180 Group, elevated the look, while LiveU Audio Connect kept the crew in sync. A LiveU field encoder supported manned cameras for the ceremony’s key moments, and two PTZs fed IMAG shots of every diploma handoff.

The result was a flawless broadcast streamed to the school’s Vimeo channel. Families who couldn’t attend watched in real time, and students gained hands-on experience with professional-grade tools. The project also opened the door for Mater Dei’s Film & Production Program to expand into sports, traveling productions, and more.

As Film & Media Arts Chair Andrew Roberts put it, “Graduation can’t fail. LiveU gave us the confidence that the stream would be professional, within budget, and reliable—and they delivered.”
