Edius 2.5, for Windows XP users, is the latest nonlinear editing release to come from Canopus. The earlier 2.0 release signaled a big change for this editing application, as it no longer required Canopus hardware in order to operate. A software-only editing application offers greater versatility for users who can edit on battery-powered laptops in the field or on high-powered workstations in a studio. Canopus now has an application in Edius that directly competes with the more established editing applications on the market today. Other notable updates include bundling Inscriber TitleMotion, probably the best software CG available with Edius. With this release, the user can now go from camera to complete edit, effects, audio mixing and on out to DVDâ€â€a big win for editors everywhere. Read more...
