Avid CEO says New Media Composer Targeted for June Release

Avid's biggest announcement at NAB 2019 was the newest addition of their flagship NLE, Avid Media Composer. The all new 2019 edition of Media Composer is a full intuitive redesign of the interface that many editors know. Now, news has broke that the NLE is likely to arrive in June.

Avid CEO, Jeff Rosica spoke with studiodaily.com, and said that the company is targeting a June ship date in the second quarter. He also alluded to new pro audio and music products coming this summer at NAMM in Nashville, TN. However, Rosica didn't offer further details.

“The market’s overwhelming response … has been unlike anything we’ve experienced in quite some time here at Avid. It better positions Avid to increase our adoption of our video creation tools, which will help to accelerate subscription growth with every type of user.”

The company has been doing well this quarter, with a net revenue of $103.3 million, which is a 5.5% increase compared to last year.

Rosica also spoke about Avid's NEXIS Cloudspaces, among other new cloud services.

“I don’t think it’s going to be explosive. It’s going to take time for that revenue to grow because it is a gradual building.”
