High Precision AF | Dual Pixel CMOS AF (CR-N500 & CR-N700)
High-performance, high-precision focusing over a large screen area. Canon’s Dual Pixel CMOS AF is the technology that uses every pixel on the imaging sensor to detect focus, and also to capture actual image information achieving both high precision focusing and high image quality. Touch focus can control high-speed continuous AF within approximately 80% of the vertical and horizontal area of the screen.

CR-N500 Face Detection AF
Enables smooth and intuitive operation of Dual Pixel CMOS AF by clicking on the screen of the Settings Page (Web UI). And when used in combination with the face detection AF which can be used in different ways according to the purpose of shooting, realizes the expected AF shooting.

CR-N700 Eye, Face/Head Detection AF

  • Eye Detection: The Eye AF technology cultivated in the EOS Series has been applied to Canon's remote & PTZ camera. Even when another subject appears in the foreground, it detects the human eye and closely tracks it to continue shooting while maintaining accurate focus.
  • EOS iTR* AF X support: This is the first Canon's remote & PTZ cameras to support EOS iTR AF X, which uses deep learning. This lets the camera keep tracking the subject even if they turn around.

CR-N700 / CR-N500 / CR-N300 Comparison

CR-N700 12G SDI 4K 60p / 4:2:2 10BIT
1.0-inch CMOS sensor × DIGIC DV7 delivers outstanding image quality

Two Channels of SDI Output (12G-SDI/3G-SDI)
Enables multi output to meet production needs. The CR-N700 features a 12G-SDI output terminal that can stream 4K 60P video with a single cable. When used together with the 3G-SDI terminal, users can now output two video channels simultaneously. This means a single camera can output video for different purposes at the same time, answering video production needs by combining various assist functions.

HDR PQ and HLG Support / Canon Log 3 (CR-N700)
HLG and PQ are compliant with ITU-R BT.2100 recommended for the latest HDR operations, so images can be shot with high affinity for SDR. In HLG, the color can be chosen from Vivid (equivalent to Traditional Color described in ITU-R BT.2390) or BT.2100 (color according to standards). Canon Log 3 is a gamma designed for simple grading at the level of toning up dark areas and adjusting color tone/gradation. It makes noise less noticeable, and offers a gamma with the handling ease of Canon.

Canon RP-100 Controller

A dedicated controller that can connect up to 100 remote cameras. This dedicated remote camera controller offers intuitive operation with a joystick and zoom lever for pan/tilt/zoom and camera functions. An upgraded version offers advanced usability with an added “save picture quality settings button”.

Streaming Protocol: RTMP
All Canon PTZs are capable of streaming video and audio via RTMP. Even high-definition video and audio files such as broadcast programs can be played while they are being delivered without waiting for the download to complete. It also supports RTMPS for communication in a secure environment.

SRT Protocol
The CR-N500 and CR-N700 support the SRT Protocol, which has earned an excellent reputation for transport of video between locations. It enables high-quality, low-latency and secure video streaming even over unstable public networks.

Automation Features
Applications that automate camera movements will improve efficiency at video production sites.

  • Auto-Tracking: The camera automatically tracks the subject and performs PTZ according to the person’s movements, reducing workload on operators.
  • Auto-Loop: The camera constantly performs regular PTZ movements automatically, allowing the operator to concentrate on switching and main camera framing.

Auto-Tracking
The camera automatically tracks the subject as she or he moves.

  • The camera automatically tracks the subject and performs PTZ according to the person’s movement
  • This reduces operator’s workload and lets them focus on other tasks such as switching and streaming.
  • Enables multi-camera shoots with fewer people

Auto-Tracking Priority Area
Keeps information viewers want to see within the angle of view. Even if the tracking subject moves out of the screen area, priority is given to keeping a certain range on the screen. Tracking of the person will continue if he/she is within the range in which the priority display area is set.

Auto-Loop Application
Automates Simple Repeated Camera Movements. This feature automates a portion of the visual creative work that is typically done by camera operators. It allows directors and operators to concentrate on switching and camera framing, reducing workload and saving labor and personnel.

Auto-Loop: Greater Flexibility for Repeated Movements
Select from two repeated movements to suit your shooting environment.

  1. Loop movement
  2. Back-and-forth movement

Auto-Loop: Smoother Start-Stop Movements (Fade Mode)
Smoothly adjusts acceleration and deceleration when starting and stopping movement between two preset positions for professional-looking camerawork.
