Canopus Announces PCI Express Version of its Popular EDIUS NX Realtime, Mixed HD/SD Editing Solution
Canopus, leaders in realtime digital video editing and codec technology, today announced the new PCI Express (PCIe) based EDIUS NX realtime mixed HD/SD video editing solution to take advantage of the affordability and high performance of new dual-core CPU computer systems that feature PCI Express interfaces. “By supporting PCI Express slots common on the new dual-core capable platforms, the PCI Express version of EDIUS NX makes the speed and versatility of dedicated NLE hardware affordable to both SD and HD editors,†said Hiro Yamada, founder and chairman of the board of Canopus. “And since EDIUS NX provides native editing and realtime processing of a variety of SD and HD formats, editors who haven’t yet made the move to HD can use EDIUS NX now, and continue with EDIUS NX when they finally do make the transition to HD.†EDIUS NX redefines video production capability and affordability with a groundbreaking, tightly integrated software and hardware solution. At the heart of the EDIUS NX solution is EDIUS Pro nonlinear editing software, which provides realtime, mixed format editing of uncompressed SD, HD, HDV, DV, MPEG-2, and MPEG-1 formats. EDIUS Pro delivers increased quality and realtime performance through the company’s acclaimed variable-bitrate Canopus HQ codec. EDIUS NX with PCI Express compatibility includes professional features, such as realtime HQ batch capture from 1080i and 720p HDV cameras and decks, including the new Canon XL H1 affordable, lightweight 24fps HD camcorder and JVC GY-HD100U full resolution ProHD progressive camcorder. When combined with the robust HD Expansion Kit, Canopus’s EDIUS hardware solutions are the only NLEs on the Windows platform that deliver full frame-rate realtime HD playback from the timeline directly to an external HD video display. EDIUS NX with PCI Express compatibility will be available the end of December 2005 for a suggested retail price of $1299. Canopus continues to offer EDIUS NX with PCI and PCI-X support for systems without PCI Express slots. For more information
