Cinematic Creativity Comes to Life at SCAD with Avid
Avid Blogs by Marianna Montague
Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) recently held their annual Savannah Film Festival, which was attended by both award-winning professionals and emerging student filmmakers and sound mixers.
The festival is host to a wide variety of competition film screenings, special screenings, workshops, panels, and lectures. We are in our 5th year sponsoring this festival and play a large role in everything from event sponsorship to panel discussions and master class workshops to connecting professionals to students.
Avid also sponsored the “Best Edited” award category along with a lecture series panel, hosted by George Klippel of Avid Education along with Film and Video Editor Chris Nelson and Sound Editor Joe Melody.
Chris’s career is long and varied. He’s worked as Producer, Director and Film Editor for television and cable movies, pilots, series and feature films. Chris has won a Primetime Emmy for his video editing work on LOST and has been nominated more than 10 times for his editing work throughout the years. He has received Best Editing Emmy Nominations for: Six Feet Under, China Beach, and The Greatest American Hero pilots. He also received an American Cinema Editors nomination for editing the West Wing pilot, Mad Men and won the Emmy for the Series Finale of LOST. Currently, he is editing and directing episodes of the cable series Bates Motel, for which he is a Co-Producer. read more...
