Epiphan Webcaster X2 now lets you stream live to Facebook at 1080p
Palo Alto, CA, October 5, 2017 – Epiphan Video, a leader in professional audiovisual capture, recording, and streaming products, announces an update to Epiphan Webcaster X2™ to support 1080p live streaming to Facebook. A dedicated hardware encoder for live streaming, Webcaster X2 uses the published Facebook Live and YouTube APIs to enable content creators to create high-quality live content directly from their cameras or any HDMI source. The lightweight and portable Webcaster X2 has everything needed to simplify live video streaming. On September 14th, Facebook announced updates to its Facebook Live API, including support for 1080p live video. Although Webcaster X2 could already live stream at 1080p to YouTube, it was previously limited (by Facebook’s specifications) to 720p for streams to Facebook. With an update provided earlier this week, the Epiphan Video team is pleased to announce that Webcaster X2 can now send 1080p live streams to Facebook. This update makes Webcaster X2 the first small form-factor encoder to support 1080p live streaming to Facebook as well as YouTube. Speaking about the update, David Kirk, Vice President of Marketing at Epiphan said, “We’re happy to have been working closely with Facebook on our Webcaster line of products, and specifically with Webcaster X2. It makes sense strategically for Facebook to have released API support for 1080p live streamed video, and of course, Epiphan is pleased to bring this same support to Webcaster X2.” Webcaster X2 is part of Epiphan’s extensive video capture and live streaming encoders product line. Also of note is Epiphan’s flagship all-in-one live production switcher, Pearl-2; an encoder that live streams simultaneously to Facebook Live, YouTube, and any other RTMP endpoint at resolutions up to 4K.
