The Thunderbolt 3 connection uses a versatile USB-C connector.  This means it doesn't matter which end you connect to your PC.

Performance

Thunderbolt 3 allows for transfer speeds up to 40Gb/s.  It also reserves some bandwidth for video transmission for workflows that include devices like dual 5K monitors.  

Daisy Chaining

G-Technology Thunderbolt 3 drives allow users to daisy chain up to 6 devices all through a single Thunderbolt 3 port.  For example, users could connect storage, network connections, monitors and power with other ports available for additional devices. 

Single-Cable Versatility 

Thunderbolt 3 drives operate off a single cable for high-speed data transfers and supply up to 100W of power. 

Better Bus Power

Thunderbolt 3 allows up to 15W of power for all connected bus-powered devices, including NVMe SSDs.
