Grass Valley Backs MXL to Power the Future of Broadcast Innovation

As a founding member of the Media eXchange Layer (MXL) initiative, Grass Valley is taking a leading role in redefining media production through open-source collaboration, as mentioned in their original article here. The goal? To develop a universal, real-time communication layer for media assets, supporting seamless integration across IP-based, software-centric workflows.

MXL promises major improvements in efficiency, interoperability, and scalability—essential for today’s fast-paced broadcast environments. Grass Valley’s contribution builds on five years of innovation with AMPP and deep collaboration with the EBU, bringing valuable experience to this ambitious industry-wide effort.

With SDK access coming soon, the MXL team is inviting developers, broadcasters, and vendors to join the conversation and help shape a flexible, future-proof media framework that’s built by and for the broadcast community.
