Grass Valley Wins STAR Award at NAB Show 2013 for GV Director Integrated Nonlinear Live Production Center
(Las Vegas, Nevada--April 15, 2013) Grass Valley® has been awarded a 2013 STAR (Superior Technology Award Recipient) Award at NAB Show 2013 in Las Vegas for its GV Director™ Nonlinear Live Production Center. Combining the power of a switcher, multiviewer, graphics, and effects, GV Director brings a dynamic new paradigm to live productions of all genres, with its simplified way of producing and delivering live content.
Now celebrating its 13th anniversary, TV Technology magazine’s STAR Award is designed to honor and showcase the outstanding technical innovations available to the broadcast industry. A panel of judges consisting of TV Technology editors, columnists, and industry peers reviewed a variety of products, examined the technical applications and their overall contribution to the industry, and then submitted their award nominees.
“The NAB Show serves as the launching pad for thousands of new products and services for audio and video professionals,” said Tom Butts, Editor-in-chief, TV Technology. “Our panel of judges walk the show floor in search of the most innovative technologies. The products and services that we select for the STAR Award make the cut, demonstrating their ability to help advance the acquisition and distribution of entertainment and information across the media spectrum.”
GV Director’s simple touchscreen, assignable switcher buttons, and T-bar controls make it easy to use and it will seem familiar and logical to both experienced technical directors (TDs) and students alike. It is a software based solution that uses a scalable CPU and GPU platform with many common IT hardware components with robust Grass Valley designed I/O technology - providing for sophisticated switcher capability, 2D/3D graphics, localized clip storage and playback, and the ability to handle baseband and file-based sources.
GV Director is suitable for all production environments, such as houses of worship, image magnification (IMAG) applications, educational institutes, as well as fixed venues, production studios, and trucks.
“The response to GV Director at NAB Show has been exceptional, and the feedback from visitors to our booth has been so positive. It’s a real game-changer,” said Mike Cronk, Senior Vice President of Marketing, Grass Valley. “It allows operators to take full control of the whole production process, giving them the freedom to be really creative in what they are delivering. Our cutting edge portfolio of products offers our customers cost-effective, work-efficient solutions, and this STAR Award serves as proof of the real impact that GV Director has made on the industry. We are delighted to receive this honor and proud of the hugely talented team behind it.”
GV Director pricing starts at $35k for an eight input, four output, fully featured system, and is expected to ship later this summer. .
