Higher Education AV Leaders Are Reframing Video as Campus Infrastructure

At a recent Higher Ed Symposium, John A. Logan College’s Dustin Myers, CTS, ANP, emphasized that campus video conversations need to move beyond traditional lecture capture discussions. Instead of positioning video as a standalone classroom tool, he argued that institutions should view it as part of a larger ecosystem tied to student success, accessibility, compliance, and long-term institutional value.

This shift changes how universities approach budgeting and decision-making around AV technology. By framing video infrastructure as a strategic campus-wide resource rather than an isolated classroom expense, institutions bring more stakeholders into the conversation and align technology investments with broader educational goals.

The discussion reflects a growing trend across higher education, where AV systems are increasingly being integrated into larger IT, communications, and student engagement strategies designed to support connected campus experiences.
