If you’ve spent any time on the Avid Blogs, you’ve probably heard of Avid Artist DNxIO. It’s a next-gen video interface that enables you to capture, monitor, and output media quickly—in the highest quality possible. Not only will it accelerate your HD, Ultra HD, 2K, and 4K workflow, it’s incredibly open and flexible, so you can use it with your favorite Avid and third-party creative tools.

Although it’s a relatively new piece of gear, it’s already making huge waves throughout the pro video industry. The fine folks at ProVideo Coalition recently sat down for an interview with Todd Ulman, the founder and CEO of Mad Old Nut Productions, to discuss how Artist | DNxIO is powering their workflow.

“Previously, we used a lot of Blackmagic stuff, like their Thunderbolt I/O. So, once an Avid-branded unit came out, we wanted to jump on it to see if it’s faster and better. Once [Avid] rolled out the proper driver and the DNxHR support, it was a vast improvement. Whenever we do DNxHR now, it always happens in the Avid DNxIO suite. We’re actually working in DNxHR a lot.”
