Inside Bellmore-Merrick Broadcasting’s Student-Led TV Program | eduStreamTV 2026

In this eduStreamTV 2026 session, host Jim Bask sits down with Stuart Stein to explore the nationally recognized Bellmore-Merrick Broadcasting (BMB) program at Mepham High School. Designed to give students real-world broadcasting experience before college, the BMB program immerses students in every aspect of live production, digital storytelling, and sports broadcasting using professional-grade equipment and workflows.

Students in the Bellmore-Merrick Broadcasting program gain hands-on experience producing weekly shows, covering live sports events, operating cameras, managing graphics, directing productions, and working with studio lighting and audio systems. What makes the program especially unique is that students can begin developing production skills as early as 8th grade, helping them build confidence and technical expertise before entering college or the workforce.

The session also highlights the BASH Awards, a student-led live production event hosted at Hofstra University that brings together high school broadcasting programs from across the region. The event creates opportunities for students to showcase their talents, collaborate with peers, and connect with college programs and industry professionals in the broadcast and media production space.

Viewers will learn how Bellmore-Merrick Broadcasting prepares students for careers in media by providing practical, hands-on training in live streaming, television production, sports media, graphics creation, directing, camera operation, and storytelling. The program serves as a strong example of how schools can successfully build student-led broadcasting programs that mirror real-world production environments.

Watch this eduStreamTV 2026 session to discover how Bellmore-Merrick Broadcasting is helping shape the next generation of content creators, broadcasters, and media professionals through immersive educational experiences and live production training.
