Latest Version of DaVinci Resolve Improves EDIUS Integration
Grass Valley, a Belden brand, announces that EDIUS 7 users can now benefit from HQ/HQX support with Blackmagic Design’s latest version of its color corrector software, DaVinci Resolve 11 – which is being unveiled at NAB 2014. This provides EDIUS users with a smoother import/export workflow with quick access to a powerful and creative color correction toolset. DaVinci Resolve handles complex color grades, multi-point tracking, blurs, and more.
Content producers and editors can work in a more creative fashion and ultimately increase value for their clients when they can share projects simply and quickly between systems using industry standard protocols.
DaVinci Resolve’s support for Grass Valley’s advanced HQ /HQX intermediate codecs using a .mov container allows users to import raw 4K files directly into DaVinci Resolve, color correct the file as required, and then export the clip as an HQX file directly into EDIUS. Furthermore, editors can exchange projects in EDL format (AAF exchange support is scheduled for a future release of EDIUS), which would allow a round trip workflow between EDIUS and DaVinci Resolve in HQX format.
EDIUS allows for powerful real-time editing with the ability to edit anything, anywhere, and provides the perfect finishing tool for broadcast news, newsmagazine content, and studio programs, as well as corporate, documentary, and theatrical productions. Designed as a native 64-bit application for Windows 7 and Windows 8, EDIUS 7 takes full advantage of installed physical memory access for super-intensive media operations, especially layering, 3D, multicam and multitrack 4K editing.
“We pride ourselves on offering the world’s fastest nonlinear editing software when mixing formats on the same timeline,” said Mike Cronk, Senior Vice President Strategic Marketing, Grass Valley. “DaVinci Resolve allows for tighter integration when color correcting and operates quickly and seamlessly with EDIUS. We recognize that when an editor or color grader has to wait for technology, creativity can suffer and we won’t let that happen with EDIUS.”
