One of our favorite new produvts from NAB is the Monarch HDX. It's the big brother of the Monarch HD streaming & recording appliance. The HDX adds dual recording and dual encoding for streaming, something we've had many requests for. It's targeted for broadcast, but will also work great in educational and worship workflows that demand dual capabilities. The built in frame synchronizer is a very important feature that sets teh HDX apart form all other encoders in it's price range.
Dual-channel H.264 encoder for broadcast streaming and recording garners three of NewBay Media’s Best of Show Awards, presented by TV Technology, Sound & Video Contractor and Video Edge
MONTREAL – April 23, 2015 — Matrox® Video today announced that it’s new Monarch™ HDX dual-channel H.264 encoder for broadcast streaming and recording is the recipient of three of the industry’s most prestigious technology honors, NewBay Media’s Best of Show Awards, presented at the 2015 NAB Show in Las Vegas by TV Technology, Sound & Video Contractor and Video Edge. Monarch HDX was also named as a finalist for the IABM Game Changer Awards 2015 in the playout and delivery systems category.
NewBay Media’s Best of Show Awards are evaluated by a panel of engineers and industry experts, and are selected based on innovation, feature set, cost efficiency and performance in serving the industry.
“Recognition with an award at the NAB Show from NewBay Media’s Broadcast & Video Group is a strong vote of confidence and admiration from our leading industry publications,” said NewBay Media Broadcast & Video Group Vice President & Group Publisher Eric Trabb.
“Winning awards from these three diverse publications emphasizes the growing desire and need for AV professionals, as well as traditional broadcasters, to deliver live and recorded content online,” said Dan Maloney, technical marketing manager, Matrox Video. “Our new Monarch HDX is packed with features that make it ideal for broadcasters, event producers, medical facilities, CDNs, educational institutions, houses of worship, corporate communicators and legal videographers.”
Matrox Monarch HDX is a compact, easy-to-use, dual-channel H.264 encoding appliance. Designed for complete workflow flexibility, Monarch HDX features 3G-SDI and HDMI inputs with frame synchronization to compensate for unstable sources. Two independent H.264 encoders provide redundancy or can be set to stream and/or record at individual settings. From any SDI or HDMI input source such as a camera or switcher, Matrox Monarch HDX generates two H.264-encoded video streams at bitrates from 200 Kbps to 30 Mbps. Powerful scaling, deinterlacing and noise reduction engines ensure only the most pristine images are sent to the encoders. For streaming purposes, the encoders use either RTMP or RTSP protocol to deliver live streams to local or cloud-based media servers. In recording applications, the encoders write MP4 or MOV files to local USB drives, SD cards or network-mapped drives for post-event editing or archiving. An additional, dedicated H.264 encoder provides remote preview of the input.
