Netflix Breaks Ground on $903M Studio at Fort Monmouth, NJ

Netflix is making a major move to the East Coast. The streaming giant has officially begun construction on a $903 million production facility at Fort Monmouth, a 289-acre former U.S. Army base located along the Jersey Shore. As explained in this article, this landmark project positions New Jersey as a rising force in the film and television production world.

Governor Phil Murphy and Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos attended the private groundbreaking ceremony, signaling strong state support and excitement for the long-term potential of the studio. The project is considered a cornerstone of New Jersey’s push to become “Hollywood East.”

What’s Coming to Fort Monmouth:
Netflix’s campus will be one of the largest of its kind on the East Coast, featuring:

  • 12 soundstages totaling nearly 500,000 sq. ft.

  • Production offices, helipad, and water tanks

  • A hotel, theater, and trailer parks

  • Visitor experience center, retail, and a café

Construction will be completed in two phases over eight years, with the first starting on a 29-acre zone in Oceanport.

A Boon for New Jersey’s Economy:
Netflix expects the complex to:

  • Create 3,500 construction jobs

  • Support 1,400 full-time employees

  • Generate up to $4.6 billion in economic impact over 20 years

State and local tax incentives, including up to 40% tax credits, are helping to bring this massive project to life.
