NewTek TriCaster and SNS EVO power Microsoft’s Channel 9 Studio

Microsoft's channel 9 is a studio that puts out up to 100 videos a week. These videos combind many differnet production types including live streaming, live-to- recording and post-produced from fully archived multi-camera/device shoots. In order to get these videos out they reqiure production tools with both capacity and flexibility, to acomplish this they use the NewTek Tricaster 8000, to learn more about how they use this in their workflow check out the article below.

NewTek TriCaster® 8000 multi-camera production system is the video switcher and streaming solution, and Studio Network Solutions (SNS) EVO is the storage solution with Media Asset Management (MAM) that together are the heart of production at Channel 9. All cameras from the three studios feed into the TriCaster, and all feeds are fully archived to the EVO, in addition to other, redundant recording systems. The PTZ cameras for all studios can be controlled by a single operator, also TD’ing at the TriCaster.

Live shows direct to stream can be produced, but so can live-to-recording, where a live production workflow is used to create a finished show in real-time for later streaming or broadcast, with no editing and post production needed. Lastly, the archiving of all camera feeds also allows for post-produced shows with all footage available to the editors. Multiple types of production can be in progress simultaneously with this type of setup.

Both TriCaster and EVO support NDI®, NewTek’s bi-directional IP technology for transport of video, audio, metadata and communications. Since this is two-way, not only can all of TriCaster’s inputs and outputs be recorded by the EVO, but pre-recorded clips and footage on the EVO are available to TriCaster for use in live productions...read more
