PTZOptics Camera Lineup: Move SE vs Move 4K vs Studio SE vs Studio 4K — Which Do You Need?

PTZ vs Box — What's the Difference?

PTZ cameras (Move SE, Move 4K) — motorized pan, tilt, and zoom. Remote-controlled positioning, preset recall, and autotracking. The camera moves to where you need it.

Box cameras (Studio SE, Studio 4K) — fixed frame cameras with optical zoom but no robotics. Same image quality, same outputs, same NDI compatibility as the PTZ models — they just can't pan or tilt. Used for locked-off wide shots, overhead angles, or permanent studio positions that don't need to move.

In a typical single-operator bundle, you get one of each: the PTZ handles flexible angles and presenter tracking, the box camera provides a consistent wide shot that's always available as a safety cut.

Move SE — HD PTZ Camera (1080p/60)

The Move SE is a 1080p/60 PTZ camera with 20x optical zoom, autotracking, and the full PTZOptics output stack: HDMI, SDI, USB, and NDI.

Key specs:

  • 1080p/60 resolution
  • 20x optical zoom
  • AI autotracking — follows a single presenter automatically
  • HDMI, SDI, USB, and NDI outputs
  • IR remote control for preset recall and autotracking toggle
  • VISCA, Pelco-D, Pelco-P, and NDI control protocols

Best for: Budget-conscious productions, education, houses of worship, podcast studios where 4K output is not required.

Move 4K — 4K PTZ Camera (4K/60)

The Move 4K steps up to 4K/60 output and adds advanced tracking capabilities not available on the Move SE.

Key specs:

  • 4K/60 resolution
  • 20x optical zoom
  • AI autotracking — same as Move SE
  • Group tracking — tracks multiple people simultaneously, keeping a group in frame rather than following a single subject. Only available on the Move 4K.
  • HDMI, SDI, USB, and NDI outputs
  • IR remote, VISCA, Pelco, and NDI control

Best for: Productions requiring 4K output, multi-person panels where group tracking matters, higher-education media programs, professional streaming studios.

Studio SE — HD Box Camera (1080p)

The Studio SE is the fixed-frame companion to the Move SE. Same image quality and output stack, no pan/tilt robotics. 20x optical zoom still lets you adjust framing — you just do it manually or via remote, not through motorized movement.

Best for: Wide shots, overhead angles, fixed presenter positions, any angle that won't need to change during a production.

Studio 4K — 4K Box Camera

The Studio 4K is the 4K fixed-frame version. Pairs with the Move 4K in 4K bundle configurations, providing a static 4K wide shot alongside the PTZ camera's flexible coverage.

All Four Cameras Share
