Avid Connect—An Awe-Inspiring Experience I Would Not Want to Miss

As Director of Sales and Marketing for McDowell Signal Processing (McDSP), I was there for Avid Connect 2015 and, because of my experience, I was one of the first people to register for Avid Connect 2016.
McDSP has been making audio plug-ins since 1998 and was one of the original third party developers for Pro Tools. Whether it’s developing for the different plug-in specs or supporting a new live sound console, we know our customers depend upon the technologies created by Avid, and for that reason we have always maintained our commitment to the Avid platform.
I attended Avid Connect 2015 mostly out of curiosity: Who else would be attending? What else could I learn about the Avid ecosystem that I didn’t already know? Well, I learned quite a bit more than I thought I would. Attendees were from all segments of the industry: fellow developers to broadcast executives to music production, post production and gaming.
I attended sessions where new console features were highlighted and some high profile post production users shared their workflows on Avid tools. It was enlightening to hear directly from post production community members and hear new perspectives on what the technology should do and where it should go.
There were other valuable sessions from last year that had an effect on how we do business at McDSP, such as demographics of Pro Tools users, where the industry currently is and where it is heading, context for evaluating different business opportunities and more.
To have such a concentration of skill and brain power communicating in one room was awe-inspiring, and an experience I would not want to miss. This is also why I am so excited to be attending Avid Connect again...
