Sport Climbing Victoria Elevates Live Streams with BirdDog PTZs & KBD Control

When Sport Climbing Victoria (SCV) set out to level up their live event coverage at the 2025 Vic State Boulder Titles, they turned to BirdDog to make it happen. With multiple fields of play, a tight production schedule, and unpredictable tech hiccups, SCV needed gear that was flexible, reliable, and easy to control.

The team deployed BirdDog X1, X4, and X5 PTZ cameras, along with the latest BirdDog KBD controller, rigged via PoE overhead for fast setup and clean cable management.

“BirdDog PTZs were perfect,” said Jimmy Xu, SCV’s Media Production Lead. “They let us adapt quickly without re-rigging in a crowded gym.”

When the main broadcast computer crashed during finals, the KBD controller saved the day, allowing SCV’s Tech Producer to control camera feeds and switch video in OBS, all from a single NDI source.
