The Moving Picture: Musings About Premiere Pro CS4

The second iteration of Adobe’s integrated video production suite, Adobe Production Premium and Master Collection Creative Suite 3 (CS3), shipped in July 2007. Thirteen months later, I’m starting to muse about CS4, which is as yet unannounced. But because Adobe showed what looked to be stable CS4 versions of Premiere Pro and OnLocation for the Mac in April at NAB 2008 and is currently shipping beta versions of Soundbooth CS4, I’m expecting to see Production Premium CS4 by early 2009, if not sooner.

What’s CS4 going to deliver? The best indicator is the technology demonstration given at NAB by Hart Shafer, product manager for Adobe Production Premium, which you can watch at http://tv.adobe.com.
