Troubleshooting Bolt Wireless Video: How to Diagnose Image Dropouts On Set
Share

Wireless video issues on set can bring production to a halt, even with high-end tools like Teradek’s Bolt. Whether you're dealing with blocking artifacts, tearing, or total signal loss, the first step is identifying the type of disruption you're seeing. From large 8x8 pixel blocks caused by missing data to full-on “No Link” drops, each symptom points to different causes and solutions.
Interference often comes from nearby wireless gear, RF-heavy environments, or even poorly shielded cables. Physical obstacles like walls, metal, or even people can disrupt line-of-sight transmission. To maintain a clean feed, make sure TX and RX units are in clear view, separated properly, and away from other wireless systems. Replace bad cables, and don’t forget, shielding and spacing matter as much as frequency selection.
