Videoguys' 2013 Update on Thunderbolt
Our latest guide has all of the latest Thunderbolt news, products and developments. This article will help explain the differences and advantages of Thunderbolt over USB 3.0 , FireWire or HDMI. This guide also includes our recommended configuration for a new iMac as well as our Thunderbolt Wish List for 2013.

We went over our $2,000 budget, but this baby is so fast it's worth every penny. Thanks to the SSD boot drive, hex core i7 and a whopping 32GB of RAM it is flying! Adobe Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer, Sony Vegas and Grass Valley Edius are all running great and this machine can handle even the most demanding HD workflows and complex multi-camera timelines.

We originally posted this rant on 12/19/2012 in the Videoguys.com Tech Talk forum on Creative COW in response to a thread asking about the future of the Mac Pro. Since then there have been numerous discussions on the COW, LinkedIn and Facebook.
Personally, I don't see why Apple would waste any time or money investing in developing a new Mac Pro. The top of the line fully loaded 27" iMac is a killer machine and more than adequate for 90% of editors. If you haven't already read it, check it out and feel free to add your thoughts and comments.
