Videoguys Recommends SSD & NVMe Portable Storage Solutions

Gary hosts this important webinar going over SSD Storage to meet the needs for everyone.

Why We Recommend SSD Solutions

  • Reliable – No spinning discs means less wear & tear
  • Durable – Naturally drop & dust resistant. Easier to surround with protective materials
  • Cool – Heat is the enemy of storage! SSDs stay cooler & many have special designs for heat dissipation
  • Portable – Small enough to take everywhere
  • SPEED, SPEED, SPEED!

How Fast Do I need for Video

  • Under 250MB/s - Good for File Transfer & Backup
  • > 450MB/s - HD editing ProRes, DNxHD, & compressed 4K
  • > 1,000MB/s - 4K ProRes RAW & HD RAW
  • > 2,500 MB/s - 4K RAW

How fast is SSD?

It's important to know that speed of the SSD may be limited by the connection interface. Thus Videoguys put together this chart to best represent the speeds to know.

What is CFexpress?

CFexpress cards are based on the PCIe® Gen 3 interface and uses established NVMe™ protocols to  offer better efficiency, optimized power and performance for professional imaging and video markets.

Videoguys holds these cards from ProGrade & SanDisk

CFexpress feature include:

  • Lower Burst Capture
  • Higher Quality Video Capture
  • Faster Workflow!

Is CFexpress compatible with XQD?

CFexpress Type-B cards are the same size and shape as XQD cards. A camera that uses XQD memory cards can get a firmware update from the device manufacturer to allow that device to use CFexpress Type-B cards.

Cameras which carry CFexpress are used for Pro Video. Companies range from Nikon, to Canon, to Panasonic.
