Westminster Students Get Hands-On Broadcast Experience with QuickLink StudioPro

Westminster Schools in Atlanta has transformed its student-run WCAT broadcast program with a purpose-built studio inside the new Blake Center. At the heart of the space is QuickLink StudioPro, giving middle and high school students hands-on experience with professional live production workflows.

Three RED KOMODO cameras feed into StudioPro for live switching and ISO recording, while students can incorporate graphics, video packages, NDI and web sources, and remote Zoom guests. The system also feeds a massive 30-foot LED video wall, which can display graphics and virtual backgrounds during productions.

The biggest change is how much can now happen live. Instead of recording content and spending hours editing afterward, students can build much of the finished show in real time. The platform's straightforward operation has also made it easier for new students to learn the workflow quickly.

With WCAT planning to move from live-to-tape shows into full livestreaming, the studio gives students an opportunity to learn broadcasting, filmmaking, podcasting, and live production using the same types of workflows found in professional environments.
