SMPTE ST 2110 has become one of the most important standards in modern broadcast production, but it's often misunderstood as simply "video over IP." In reality, ST 2110 separates video, audio, and metadata into individual synchronized streams, giving broadcasters far greater flexibility than traditional SDI infrastructure.
By using Precision Time Protocol (PTP) to keep every stream perfectly synchronized, ST 2110 enables scalable, IP-based production workflows that support remote production, multi-site facilities, and next-generation live broadcasting.
