Professional 4K PTZ Camera for Live Production

The Canon CR-N100 combines high-quality imaging with the convenience of a remotely controlled PTZ camera. As a result, one operator can control camera position, zoom, focus, and other settings from a compatible controller or software application.

Moreover, the compact design makes the CR-N100 easy to install in studios, classrooms, meeting rooms, auditoriums, houses of worship, and event spaces. It can also integrate into larger professional video production and IP workflows.

4K Sensor and DIGIC DV6 Image Processor

The CR-N100 features a 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor that captures 4K UHD video at up to 30p. It can also capture Full HD video at up to 60 fps.

In addition, Canon's DIGIC DV6 image processor provides the processing power needed for high-quality 4K video and advanced autofocus performance.

The camera also uses Oversampling HD Processing. This technology uses the additional image information from the 4K sensor to produce detailed Full HD video.

20x Optical Zoom with Image Stabilization

The Canon CR-N100 features a 20x optical zoom lens with a wide 65.6-degree horizontal viewing angle. The wide end is equivalent to 29.3mm, making it useful for capturing larger scenes in smaller spaces.

Furthermore, the lens uses aspheric elements to maintain 4K image quality across the zoom range. Optical Image Stabilization also helps reduce the effects of camera vibration for more stable video.

Therefore, the CR-N100 can handle both wide establishing shots and detailed close-ups without requiring a separate camera position.

Fast and Accurate Hybrid Auto Focus

The CR-N100 uses Hybrid Auto Focus, which combines phase-difference AF with contrast AF. This combination helps the camera focus quickly and accurately.

As a result, the CR-N100 is well suited for presentations, lectures, live events, worship services, sports, and other productions where subjects may move through the frame.

Smooth PTZ Movement

The CR-N100 features a high-precision pan and tilt mechanism for smooth, responsive camera movement. Pan speeds range from 0.2° to 300° per second, while tilt speeds range from 0.2° to 180° per second.

Additionally, multiple speed settings allow operators to create smooth camera movements during live productions. The camera can also be controlled remotely using compatible Canon controllers and software.

Built-In NDI|HX2 and SRT

For modern IP video workflows, the CR-N100 includes built-in NDI|HX2 and SRT support.

NDI|HX2 makes it possible to integrate the camera into compatible NDI-based video production systems. It provides an efficient way to send video and control data over an IP network.

Meanwhile, SRT helps deliver high-quality video over unpredictable public networks. Adaptive bitrate support helps maintain a reliable stream when network conditions change.

Because these protocols are built into the camera, the CR-N100 can integrate into a wide range of professional streaming and IP production environments.

HDMI, IP, USB, and RS-422 Connectivity

The Canon CR-N100 offers flexible connectivity for both traditional and IP-based production.

It includes:

  • HDMI output for direct video connections
  • IP output for network-based production
  • USB output for Full HD video and conferencing applications
  • RS-422 serial control for compatible third-party controllers
  • 3.5mm stereo mini-jack microphone input
  • PoE+ support for power and network connectivity

Therefore, the CR-N100 can fit into everything from a simple single-camera setup to a larger multi-camera production system.

Auto Tracking Lite

The CR-N100 includes Auto Tracking Lite, a free built-in version of Canon's Auto Tracking Application.

This feature can automatically follow a speaker or other selected person during presentations, lectures, meetings, and events. As a result, the camera can maintain consistent framing without requiring an operator to manually adjust the pan and tilt controls.

For productions that require more advanced tracking options, the camera also supports Canon's paid Auto Tracking Application.

Scene Modes for Faster Setup

The CR-N100 includes four Scene Modes that make it easier to optimize the camera for different shooting situations:

  • Portrait Mode helps create a softer background while keeping the subject in focus.
  • Sports Mode is designed for moving subjects.
  • Low Light Mode helps improve image capture in darker environments.
  • Spotlight Mode is designed for subjects illuminated by spotlights.

These presets can simplify setup and help operators achieve the desired look more quickly.

Remote Camera Control

The CR-N100 can be controlled remotely using Canon's Remote Camera Control Application. The software allows operators to control multiple compatible cameras from a central interface.

Up to nine cameras can be operated and monitored at the same time. Therefore, the system is well suited for one-person and multi-camera productions.

The camera also supports Canon XC Protocol and Standard Protocol. This provides additional flexibility when integrating the CR-N100 with professional PTZ controllers and existing production systems.

Canon Webcam Driver

The Canon CR-N100 can also function as a professional network webcam using the Canon Webcam Driver.

The driver supports up to 4K 30p video, embedded AAC-LC audio, automatic camera detection, and up to five cameras. Because the camera can connect over a network, you are not limited by the short distance of a standard USB cable.

As a result, the CR-N100 is a versatile option for video conferencing, lecture capture, remote meetings, and other professional webcam applications.

Multi-Camera Management

For larger installations, Canon's Multi-Camera Management Application (MCMA) can manage up to 200 compatible PTZ, professional video, and cinema cameras.

The application helps simplify camera registration, IP address management, usernames, passwords, firmware updates, and other administrative tasks. Consequently, it can reduce setup time for larger multi-camera systems.

Tally Lamp for Live Production

A tally lamp on the front of the lens provides a clear visual indication when the camera is live. The lamp can help presenters, performers, and production staff quickly identify which camera is currently being used.

This is particularly useful in broadcast, live events, houses of worship, education, and studio production.

Add-On Applications

The CR-N100 supports Canon's Add-On Application System, which allows compatible applications to run directly on the camera.

This can expand the camera's capabilities without requiring an external computer for supported applications. In turn, this can simplify installation and operation.

Ideal Applications for the Canon CR-N100

The Canon CR-N100 is a flexible 4K PTZ camera for professional video production. It is well suited for:

  • Live streaming
  • Broadcast and studio production
  • Sports production
  • Houses of worship
  • Education and lecture capture
  • Corporate meetings and events
  • Video conferencing
  • Government and institutional video
  • Event production
  • Multi-camera IP video systems

Why Choose the Canon CR-N100?

Overall, the Canon CR-N100 4K PTZ Camera combines a 20x optical zoom, 4K imaging, Hybrid Auto Focus, optical image stabilization, smooth PTZ movement, and professional IP connectivity in a compact camera.

With NDI|HX2, SRT, HDMI, USB, PoE+, remote control, and Auto Tracking Lite, it can adapt to a wide range of production environments. Therefore, the CR-N100 is a strong choice for organizations that need a professional PTZ camera for live production, streaming, education, corporate video, worship, or broadcast applications.
