HD vs 4K Production Bundle: How to Choose the Right Tier for Your Studio

HD vs 4K Production Bundle: How to Choose the Right Tier for Your Studio

Every PTZOptics production bundle comes in two tiers — HD and 4K. The price difference is real, but so are the capability differences. Here's exactly what changes between tiers and how to decide which one fits your production.

What Changes Between HD and 4K

In every bundle, upgrading from HD to 4K means swapping:

Everything else — the production platform, microphone, teleprompter, light, and controller — stays the same. The upgrade is specifically about camera and switcher resolution.

Switcher Studio Bundle — HD vs 4K

HD Switcher Studio ($4,217.96): Move SE 20X + Studio SE 20X + Roland V1HD Plus + Elgato Prompter XL + Elgato Wave MK2 + Elgato Key Light MK1

4K Switcher Studio: Move 4K 20X + Studio 4K 20X + Roland V1HD 4K + same accessories

The Roland V1HD 4K supports 4K/60 across all five HDMI inputs and outputs, plus adds the Region of Interest feature for lossless digital zoom — which is particularly valuable when paired with 4K cameras. The HD version is a capable switcher but outputs at 1080.

All-in-One Studio Bundle — HD vs 4K

HD All-in-One: Move SE 20X + Studio SE 20X + YoloBox Extreme + accessories

4K All-in-One: Move 4K 20X + Studio 4K 20X + YoloBox Extreme + accessories

Note: the YoloBox Extreme doesn't change between tiers. It already supports 4K/60 recording and encoding in both configurations. This means you get more value from the 4K upgrade here — the production platform is already ready for 4K, so you're simply unlocking the cameras to match.

Wirecast Production Studio — HD vs 4K

HD Wirecast: 3× Move SE 20X + IP Joy controller + Netgear M4250 switch + Wirecast + Stream Deck + accessories

4K Wirecast: 3× Move 4K 20X + SuperJoy controller + Netgear M4250 switch + Wirecast + Stream Deck + accessories

Two things change here beyond camera resolution: the controller upgrades from IP Joy to SuperJoy, and you get three cameras instead of two (the Wirecast bundles include PTZOptics' three-camera Producer Bundle). The Netgear M4250 switch is included in both — essential for the NDI workflow these bundles use.

QuickLink Production Studio

The QuickLink bundle is 4K-only, built around the QuickLink StudioPro NDI with three Move 4K 20X cameras and the SuperJoy controller. This is the top-tier turnkey bundle — no HD version because the StudioPro platform is designed for professional NDI production environments.

How to Decide: HD or 4K?

Choose HD if:

  • Your streaming or recording platform targets 1080p (most do)
  • Budget is the primary constraint
  • Your audience watches on platforms that cap at 1080p
  • You're in an education environment where the learning experience matters more than maximum resolution

Choose 4K if:

  • You want future-proof cameras that will remain relevant as 4K delivery becomes standard
  • You need group tracking (Move 4K only)
  • You'll record locally for post-production use where 4K source footage matters
  • Your production environment demands the highest image quality
  • You plan to use the ROI (Region of Interest) feature — it's only meaningful with 4K source cameras
