The AJA Corvid 44 12G BNC is a professional PCIe video I/O card with four bidirectional 12G-SDI connections for high-bandwidth broadcast, live production, post-production, and 8K workflows. This configuration features a tall bracket and passive cooling, with no fan for quiet operation.

Corvid 44 12G BNC supports 8K, UltraHD2, 4K, UltraHD, 2K, HD, and SD video formats, including multi-channel 4K up to 50/60p. Its four full-size bidirectional 12G-SDI connections provide flexible video input and output for demanding SDI workflows.

Professional 12G-SDI Video I/O

Corvid 44 12G BNC provides four bidirectional 12G-SDI connections for flexible video capture, playback, and monitoring. The card supports a wide range of resolutions and frame rates, making it suitable for current production systems and future 8K workflows.

For 8K workflows, quad 12G-SDI connections can be used for input or output. 4K and UltraHD workflows can use a single 12G-SDI or 6G-SDI connection, or quad 3G-SDI. The card also supports 2K, HD, and SD I/O while allowing SDI capture and monitoring to take place simultaneously.

8K, 4K, and High Frame Rate Support

Corvid 44 12G BNC supports 8K (8192 x 4320) and UltraHD2 (7680 x 4320) high-frame-rate workflows up to 50/60p. Film rates including 23.98, 24, 47.95, and 48p are supported across 8K, 4K, and 2K formats.

Multiple-I/O 4K, UltraHD, 1080p, and 720p HD workflows are also supported up to 50/60p, providing flexibility for broadcast, live production, and professional video applications.

HDR, LUT, and Color Support

Corvid 44 12G BNC supports advanced HDR and color workflows, including 12-bit RGB 4:4:4, 10-bit YCbCr 4:2:2, PQ, HLG, and Dolby Vision. VPID signaling carries SDR/HDR transfer characteristics, colorimetry, and luminance information through SDI.

Up to 12-bit LUTs in .cube format are also supported for color processing workflows.

Hardware Keying

The built-in hardware downstream keyer allows graphics and images to be overlaid on incoming video in real time at resolutions up to 4K. This provides hardware-based keying for live production and broadcast applications without relying entirely on software processing.

Metadata and AJA Control Room

The AJA Control Room Metadata Toolset works with SDI signals containing metadata such as SCTE-104 and Dolby Vision metadata. Metadata can be captured and exported as a sidecar file.

AJA Control Room can also export metadata synchronized with media on a per-frame basis. Metadata toolset functionality is available on macOS and Windows.

Reference, LTC, and RS-422

Corvid 44 12G BNC includes a switchable external LTC/Reference input for synchronization. Reference support includes analog black burst and tri-level sync.

An internal RS-422 connection is also provided through a header on the card. RS-422 supports control of external devices for frame-accurate ingest and layoff workflows.

Passive Cooling and Tall Bracket

This version of the Corvid 44 12G BNC features passive cooling with no fan and a tall bracket configuration. Passive cooling can be beneficial in systems where reduced mechanical noise and fan-free operation are important.

Audio and Firmware

Each of the four 12G-SDI connections supports 16-channel embedded audio, providing up to 64 channels of embedded audio across the four connections. The card also supports dynamic FPGA firmware reconfiguration for flexible video processing and I/O applications.

Corvid 44 12G BNC includes support for Apple silicon systems and is designed for professional video applications requiring high-bandwidth SDI connectivity.
