The AJA FiDO-R-12G is a professional single-mode LC fiber-to-12G-SDI receiver designed to convert fiber optic video signals into SDI for broadcast, live production, and professional AV workflows. Supporting 12G-SDI, 6G-SDI, 3G-SDI, HD-SDI, and SD-SDI, it enables long-distance video transmission over single-mode fiber optic cable runs up to 10 km (32,808 feet).

Long-Distance Single-Mode Fiber to 12G-SDI Conversion

The AJA FiDO-R-12G provides a reliable way to receive video signals transmitted over long-distance single-mode fiber and convert them back to SDI. With support for transmission distances up to 10 km, it is well suited to broadcast facilities, stadiums, live event venues, and large-scale video production environments where equipment may be located far apart.

The FiDO-R-12G includes two matching SDI outputs that carry the same received signal. This distribution capability allows a single fiber input to feed two SDI destinations, such as a production switcher and a monitor, without requiring a separate distribution amplifier for those connections.

HDR Metadata Pass-Through

The FiDO-R-12G supports pass-through of SDI metadata, including High Dynamic Range (HDR) information. HDR video can deliver a wider range of colors, brighter highlights, and deeper blacks than Standard Dynamic Range (SDR). Metadata pass-through helps preserve supported signal information as video travels through the fiber transmission path.

Compact and Portable Mini-Converter Design

Designed for professional broadcast and video production environments, the FiDO-R-12G features a compact, low-profile enclosure that fits easily behind monitors, inside equipment racks, in mobile production trucks, or on camera rigs.

The unit accepts 5–20 VDC power and includes a universal power supply with international plug connections. An optional P-TAP power cable supports battery-powered setups in remote production environments.
