The AJA HDP3 is a compact 3G-SDI to DVI-D converter designed to connect professional SDI video sources to digital displays such as LCD, DLP, and plasma monitors or projectors. It supports 3G-SDI, HD-SDI, and SD-SDI inputs, including video formats up to 1080p60, and converts them to DVI-D for compatible displays.

A high-quality scaling engine and deinterlacer automatically adapt SDI sources to supported display resolutions, including displays up to 1920x1200 and 1080p. HDP3 also provides analog audio monitoring, embedded HDMI audio support, and an SDI loop-through output for flexible professional video workflows.

3G-SDI to DVI-D Conversion

The AJA HDP3 converts professional 3G-SDI, HD-SDI, and SD-SDI sources to DVI-D, making it possible to use cost-effective digital displays with professional video equipment.

It supports SDI signals up to 1080p60 and automatically adapts the output for compatible DVI-D displays. This makes HDP3 useful for monitoring professional video signals on LCD monitors, DLP displays, plasma screens, and projectors.

The DVI-D output also supports HDMI 1.3a functionality when used with a compatible DVI-D-to-HDMI adapter.

High-Quality Scaling and Deinterlacing

HDP3 uses AJA's high-quality scaling engine and deinterlacing technology to optimize SDI video for digital displays.

The converter can automatically scale 4:3 and 16:9 content to match the connected display. It can also provide 1:1 pixel mapping when the display and source configuration support it.

HDP3 uses display information from EDID to determine appropriate output and scaling parameters, simplifying setup and helping ensure compatibility with the connected monitor or projector.

Embedded and Analog Audio

HDP3 provides flexible audio handling for professional monitoring workflows.

The converter supports 2- or 8-channel embedded audio through the DVI-D connection when using a compatible DVI-D-to-HDMI adapter. It also provides 2-channel RCA analog audio output with user-assignable channels for convenient audio monitoring.

The SDI loop-through output retains the embedded audio from the original SDI signal, allowing the incoming signal to continue to another SDI device.

SDI Loop-Through

The HDP3 includes an HD-SDI/SDI looping output, allowing the incoming SDI signal to pass through to additional equipment while simultaneously being converted for display.

This makes the HDP3 useful in monitoring chains where a professional SDI signal needs to be displayed locally without interrupting the rest of the SDI workflow.

Automatic Display Configuration with EDID

HDP3 responds to EDID information from the connected monitor or projector to determine compatible output formatting and scaling parameters.

This automatic display detection simplifies installation and helps match the converted video signal to the capabilities of the connected DVI-D display.

USB Configuration

The HDP3 can be configured using a PC or Mac connected through USB. Configuration software is supplied for adjusting the converter to meet specific video and display requirements.

Compact AJA Mini-Converter Design

A locking power connector helps prevent accidental power disconnection, while an optional P-TAP power cable can provide battery power for remote applications.
