Description

AJA HDR Image Analyzer 12G – Professional HDR/SDR Video Analysis

The AJA HDR Image Analyzer 12G is a professional video signal analysis system designed for HDR and SDR monitoring, broadcast quality control, postproduction, and color grading. Developed in partnership with Colorfront, this 1RU rackmount analyzer combines real-time waveform, histogram, vectorscope, and color gamut analysis with flexible 12G-SDI and NDI connectivity.

Analyze up to four 4K/UltraHD video signals simultaneously or perform single-channel 8K/UltraHD2 analysis. With support for HDR10-style PQ (ST 2084), HLG, Rec. 709, BT.2020, P3, camera Log formats, and Dolby Vision dynamic metadata inspection, the HDR Image Analyzer 12G helps production teams maintain accurate color, exposure, and image quality throughout the production pipeline.

Key Features

  • Multi-channel HDR analysis: Monitor up to four 4K/UltraHD signals simultaneously through four 12G-SDI inputs.
  • 8K/UltraHD2 support: Analyze single-channel 8K/UltraHD2 content and validate video payload identifiers (VPIDs).
  • 12G-SDI and NDI connectivity: Mix and match SDI and Full NDI sources for flexible broadcast and IP video workflows.
  • Comprehensive video scopes: Access waveform, histogram, vectorscope, CIE color gamut graphs, luminance measurements, and pixel-level analysis.
  • HDR and SDR monitoring: Analyze PQ (ST 2084), HLG, Rec. 709, BT.2020, P3, and supported camera Log color spaces.
  • Dolby Vision analysis: Inspect embedded dynamic metadata for Dolby Vision v4.0 and v2.9.
  • Professional camera support: Analyze supported Log formats from ARRI, Canon, Panasonic, RED, and Sony cameras.
  • Color and exposure warnings: Use false color, out-of-gamut detection, brightness warnings, and configurable error tolerance to identify potential image issues.
  • ACES workflow support: Analyze ACEScct signals for color-managed production and postproduction workflows.
  • Remote access and control: Configure the analyzer through a web interface or use Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) for network-based operation.
  • Timecode-based error logging: Record gamut and brightness violations for quality control, review, and troubleshooting.
  • Rackmount design: Integrate the 1RU analyzer into broadcast facilities, control rooms, postproduction suites, and on-set workflows.
  • Three-year warranty: Includes AJA's three-year product warranty.

Real-Time HDR and SDR Monitoring for Professional Video Workflows

HDR Image Analyzer 12G provides detailed insight into video signals from acquisition through finishing and delivery. Its analysis tools help colorists, digital imaging technicians (DITs), broadcast engineers, and quality control teams evaluate exposure, color accuracy, luminance, and gamut compliance.

Use the analyzer for:

  • Live production and broadcast monitoring
  • On-set DIT and camera testing workflows
  • Multi-camera matching and color consistency
  • HDR and SDR postproduction
  • Broadcast and streaming quality control (QC)
  • HDR mastering and Dolby Vision metadata inspection
  • 8K, 4K, and UltraHD signal validation

Multi-Channel 12G-SDI and NDI Signal Analysis

The AJA HDR Image Analyzer 12G supports simultaneous analysis of up to four 4K/UltraHD signals, making it useful for comparing camera feeds, checking multiple deliverables, and monitoring several projects. Each channel can display video alongside analysis tools, including waveform, vectorscope, and audio metering.

Four 12G-SDI inputs support video formats up to 8K/UltraHD2 60p, while NDI inputs support up to 4K/UltraHD 60p. The system also supports Full NDI, allowing teams to analyze network-based video alongside traditional SDI sources.

This combination helps bridge SDI and IP production environments without requiring separate analysis systems for each signal type.

HDR, SDR, Wide Color Gamut, and Camera Log Support

Evaluate video across a range of dynamic ranges and color spaces, including:

  • Dynamic range: SDR Rec. 709, PQ (ST 2084), and HLG
  • Color gamuts: BT.2020, BT.709, P3, and XYZ
  • Camera Log: Supported formats from ARRI, Canon, Panasonic, RED, and Sony
  • Color-managed workflows: ACES grading color space and ACEScct signal analysis

Automatic color gamut and dynamic range detection, along with SDI color space switching, helps streamline monitoring across different sources and delivery requirements.

Precision Waveform, Histogram, and Vectorscope Tools

The analyzer provides detailed measurement tools for evaluating image quality and identifying potential problems before delivery.

  • Waveform monitoring: Inspect luminance, color, RGB, and YCbCr signal representations.
  • Histogram analysis: Evaluate luminance and color distribution.
  • Vectorscope monitoring: Review color saturation and hue, with targeting features to support consistent skin tones and camera matching.
  • CIE XY gamut view: Compare encoded colors against BT.709, P3, and BT.2020 gamut boundaries.
  • False color and gamut warnings: Highlight potentially out-of-range brightness and color values.
  • Pixel picker: Inspect individual pixel values, including nit levels and hexadecimal or decimal code values.
  • Luminance measurements: Review nit levels and frame-average light levels.
  • Audio metering: Monitor up to 16 channels of audio levels and configure stereo or surround audio phase displays.

Configurable analysis layouts let operators arrange tools around their specific monitoring needs, with support for viewing multiple signals and their scopes at once.

Dolby Vision Metadata Inspection and Quality Control

For advanced HDR mastering and QC, HDR Image Analyzer 12G can display embedded Dolby Vision dynamic metadata and automatically detect supported Dolby Vision v4.0 and v2.9 formats.

Metadata can be presented in human-readable tools and through waveform displays with nit markers for L1 minimum, middle, and maximum luminance values. These capabilities help professionals inspect HDR mastering parameters and investigate potential issues in a production or finishing workflow.

Remote Operation, Presets, and Error Logging

The built-in web interface allows configuration from a browser on a computer connected to the network, regardless of operating system. Remote Desktop Protocol adds access to the analyzer's graphical interface, including keyboard and mouse control from a compatible computer or tablet.

Save and recall configurations for different projects, capture screenshots for review, and generate timecode-stamped error logs for brightness and gamut violations. Scope LUTs can be applied to the analyzed signal, while display LUTs affect only the monitoring display.

These features support repeatable workflows and make it easier for production, engineering, and QC teams to review and communicate image issues.

Built for Broadcast, Postproduction, and HDR Mastering

The AJA HDR Image Analyzer 12G combines professional signal connectivity, real-time image analysis, HDR metadata inspection, and remote access in a compact 1RU system. Whether you're validating camera feeds on set, matching multiple cameras, monitoring broadcast signals, or checking HDR masters before delivery, it provides detailed tools for evaluating video quality across SDI and NDI workflows.

For professional facilities working with increasingly complex HDR, wide color gamut, and high-resolution video formats, HDR Image Analyzer 12G delivers a flexible monitoring and analysis solution backed by AJA's three-year warranty.
