The AJA KONA 4 PCIe Video I/O Card is a professional video capture and playback solution designed for 4K and HD production workflows. Supporting 4K video at up to 60 fps, the KONA 4 provides SDI and HDMI connectivity, real-time hardware conversion, and downstream keying for broadcast, post-production, and video system development.

This version includes an installation bracket and does not include breakout cables.

4K Capture and Playback up to 60p

The AJA KONA 4 supports 4K video input and output at up to 50p and 60p. Use its four BNC SDI connections with compatible professional video equipment or connect a 4K display through the HDMI output.

For HD workflows, the card supports uncompressed 1080p video with 4:4:4 or 4:2:2 color sampling. Its ability to handle video input and output simultaneously makes it suitable for demanding capture, playback, monitoring, and post-production applications.

Real-Time Hardware Video Conversion

The KONA 4 includes hardware processing for up-conversion, down-conversion, and cross-conversion. Convert video between supported formats in real time without first rendering the footage in software.

For example, standard-definition footage can be up-converted for an HD project. Depending on the source aspect ratio and workflow requirements, conversion options can include letterboxing or stretching to fit the target frame.

Built-In Hardware Downstream Keyer

The integrated downstream keyer lets you overlay graphics and images onto incoming video. By handling keying in hardware, the KONA 4 helps reduce reliance on additional software processing for supported overlay workflows.

Expandable Connectivity for Professional Workflows

For additional connections, an optional 60-pin breakout cable provides access to supported AES/EBU digital audio, LTC, reference, analog component video, and RS-422 machine control connections.

The optional AJA K3G Breakout Box provides a rackmount connectivity option in a standard 19-inch rack space. Breakout accessories are not included with this card, so confirm the required connections and accessories before purchasing.
