The AJA KUMO CP is a 1RU hardware control panel for AJA KUMO SDI routers, providing fast, tactile, computer-free control of KUMO 1616 and KUMO 3232 routers. Connected via Ethernet, KUMO CP can control up to four KUMO routers from a single control panel and can be used in standalone or networked configurations.

With 40 dedicated buttons, ganged dual and quad port routing, customizable button labels, presets, and salvo control, KUMO CP provides an efficient interface for professional broadcast, production, post-production, and live event routing environments.

Note: KUMO CP is compatible with KUMO routers except the KUMO 6464. The KUMO 6464 uses the AJA KUMO CP2 control panel.

1RU KUMO Router Control Panel

KUMO CP provides a dedicated hardware interface for controlling AJA KUMO 1616 and KUMO 3232 SDI routers without requiring a computer. Its 1RU design fits easily into professional equipment racks while providing physical buttons for fast source and destination selection.

The panel can control up to 32 inputs and 32 outputs on each of up to four KUMO routers, providing centralized routing control for larger systems.

Control Multiple KUMO Routers

Using its Ethernet network connection, KUMO CP can communicate with up to four KUMO routers anywhere on the network. This allows control panels to be positioned where operators need them while keeping the KUMO routers in a central equipment location.

KUMO CP can be configured for standalone systems or connected through a standard network switch for larger networked installations.

Ganged Dual and Quad Port Routing

KUMO CP supports ganged dual and quad port routing control, allowing multiple inputs and outputs to be grouped together for multi-link video workflows.

This is useful for Dual Link, Quad Link 4K/UltraHD, and 8K/UltraHD2 routing applications where multiple signal paths need to be switched together.

40-Button Tactile Interface

The KUMO CP features 40 physical buttons for direct router control. A Shift function provides access to additional inputs and outputs while maintaining the compact 1RU form factor.

Custom button labels and colored inserts can identify sources, destinations, and routers, making it easier for operators to identify routing paths at a glance.

KUMO Presets

KUMO CP supports up to 20 preset slots for saving and recalling router configurations.

Presets can store settings including:

• Switching mode
• Crosspoint maps
• Source button settings
• Destination button settings
• Salvo configurations

Presets can also be deployed from one KUMO product to another, helping simplify configuration across compatible KUMO systems.

Salvo Routing

Salvos allow operators to execute multiple predefined routing changes with a single button press. A salvo can contain a set of source-to-destination crosspoints that are recalled together.

KUMO routers can store up to eight salvos, which can be recalled through the KUMO web interface, GVG Native Protocol over Ethernet, RS-422, or KUMO CP salvo buttons.

This provides a fast way to change multiple routing paths simultaneously during live production or other time-sensitive workflows.

Remote KUMO Router Control

KUMO routers include a built-in web interface, while KUMO CP provides a dedicated physical control surface for operators who prefer tactile router control.

Because KUMO CP connects over Ethernet, the control panel does not need to be installed directly beside the router. It can be positioned elsewhere on the network for convenient access in production control rooms, machine rooms, edit suites, or other operating locations.

Network Configuration and Web Server

KUMO CP includes an embedded web server for remote configuration and control. IP addressing can be configured through USB using AJA eMini-Setup software on PC or Mac.

KUMO routers can be connected directly using standard RJ45 cables or through a network switch. In networked configurations, the built-in web interface provides additional setup options for configuring the router and control panel system.

Optional Redundant Power

For applications where routing availability is critical, KUMO systems support an optional redundant power supply. A redundant power configuration can provide a secondary power source in the event of a primary power supply failure.

Compact 1RU Design

KUMO CP is designed for professional rack installations and measures just 1.3 inches deep, making it easy to install where rack space is limited.

Its compact form factor is well suited for broadcast control rooms, edit suites, mobile production environments, live event systems, and other professional video facilities.
