The AJA UDC Up/Down/Cross Mini-Converter is a broadcast-quality video format converter that converts between 3G-SDI, HD-SDI, and SD-SDI formats. Convert Between 3G-SDI, HD-SDI, and SD-SDI Formats

The AJA UDC converts video signals between supported 3G, HD, and SD formats, helping connect equipment that operates at different video resolutions or standards. It is suited to broadcast and production environments that need reliable format conversion in a compact Mini-Converter.

Simultaneous SDI and HDMI Outputs

The UDC provides SDI and HDMI outputs simultaneously, allowing compatible video equipment to receive signals through both interfaces. This is useful in workflows involving professional SDI equipment and HDMI displays or other HDMI-compatible devices.

The converter also supports 16-channel embedded SDI audio input and output, 8-channel HDMI audio output, and two RCA-style analog audio outputs.

Genlock and Input-Loss Management

For timing flexibility, the UDC can lock to an external reference input or SDI input, or operate in free-run mode. Input-loss management options allow the output to be set to freeze, black, or mute when the input signal is lost.

Important SDI compatibility note: The UDC supports 3G-SDI Level A only; 3G-SDI Level B is not supported. It passes through embedded audio ancillary data only, not other types of embedded ancillary data.

Configure with AJA Mini-Config Software

The UDC can be configured using local DIP switches or through its USB port with AJA's Mini-Config software for PC and Mac. The software provides a graphical interface for viewing input and output formats, adjusting supported converter parameters, and applying firmware updates.

Compact Design for Production and AV Installations

As an AJA Mini-Converter, the UDC is designed for use in space-conscious installations, including behind monitors, in equipment racks, and on camera rigs. Its locking power connector helps prevent accidental disconnection, and an optional P-TAP power cable can support battery-powered setups in suitable applications.

Power Supply Included

The AJA UDC accepts 5–20 VDC power and includes a universal power supply. A compatible spare universal power supply is also available separately for installations that require a replacement or additional unit.
