Atomos Shinobi 7 II – 7-Inch 2800-Nit HDR Camera Monitor

The Atomos Shinobi 7 II is a professional 7-inch HDR camera monitor designed for filmmakers, directors, DPs, camera operators, and video production teams. With a bright 2800-nit touchscreen display, HDMI input and output, advanced monitoring tools, camera control, and touch-to-focus, Shinobi 7 II provides accurate, detailed image monitoring in the studio or in bright outdoor environments.

  • 7-inch 1920 x 1200 HDR touchscreen with an ultra-bright 2800-nit display
  • HDMI input and HDMI output for camera monitoring and signal pass-through
  • 10+ stops of real-time dynamic range from Log, PQ, and HLG signals
  • Camera control and touch-to-focus for compatible cameras
  • EL Zone™ false color for precise exposure monitoring
  • Professional tools including focus peaking, waveform, RGB parade, vectorscope, zebras, zoom, frame guides, and safe areas
  • Built-in 3D LUT and 1D LUT support with custom .cube file loading
  • Anamorphic de-squeeze and 16:9 framing for social media production
  • On-device calibration with compatible Calibrite probes and the Atomos Calibrator app
  • Flexible power options using USB-C, NP-F batteries, or DC power with a battery eliminator

Bright 7-Inch HDR Touchscreen

The Shinobi 7 II features a 7-inch 1920 x 1200 touchscreen with 2800 nits of brightness, making it easy to see critical image details even in bright sunlight. The display supports Rec.709, PQ, and HLG monitoring, making it suitable for HDR, Log, and SDR workflows.

As a result, Shinobi 7 II works well for studio production, outdoor filmmaking, live production, video village, and mobile camera rigs where accurate monitoring is essential.

Camera Control and Touch-to-Focus

Shinobi 7 II gives operators direct control over compatible cameras from the monitor. On-screen controls allow you to adjust settings such as white balance, aperture, shutter speed or shutter angle, and ISO.

The monitor also supports touch-to-focus with compatible cameras. Simply tap the touchscreen to select a point of interest and let the camera focus accordingly. Supported focus modes can also provide tracking for easier subject acquisition.

Shinobi 7 II can control many compatible Canon, Fujifilm, Nikon, Panasonic, and Sony mirrorless cameras over USB-C, as well as Z CAM E2 series cameras using a separately purchased LANC cable.

A red edge indicator can also show when the camera is recording internally, helping operators confirm recording status at a glance.

Professional Video Monitoring Tools

Shinobi 7 II includes a comprehensive set of tools for focus, exposure, framing, and image analysis. These tools help camera operators make accurate decisions while shooting instead of relying solely on the camera's built-in display.

Monitoring features include:

  • Focus peaking
  • 2:1 and 1:1 image zoom
  • Zebras
  • EL Zone™ false color
  • Waveform monitor
  • RGB parade
  • Vectorscope
  • Frame guides
  • SMPTE safe areas
  • Grid markers
  • 3D and 1D LUT support
  • Anamorphic de-squeeze
  • 16:9 social media framing

EL Zone™ False Color Exposure Monitoring

The built-in EL Zone false color system provides a precise way to evaluate exposure. Instead of relying only on traditional IRE-based false color ranges, EL Zone maps specific colors to exposure values measured in stops of light.

This gives cinematographers and camera operators a consistent visual reference for evaluating highlights, shadows, skin tones, and other areas of the image.

Real-Time LUT Monitoring

Shinobi 7 II can receive Log signals from compatible cameras and display a real-time LUT preview. This allows operators to see an approximation of the final graded image while shooting.

Custom .cube LUT files can be loaded from an SD card and used with the monitor's other exposure and image-analysis tools. This makes it easier to evaluate both the creative look and technical exposure of a shot on set.

10+ Stops of HDR Dynamic Range

Shinobi 7 II can display 10+ stops of dynamic range in real time from Log, PQ, and HLG signals. Its HDR monitoring capabilities help filmmakers evaluate challenging highlights and shadows while shooting.

By bringing more of the post-production workflow onto the camera monitor, Shinobi 7 II helps simplify HDR and Log production and provides a more accurate view of the captured image.

Accurate Monitoring and Calibration

Accurate color and exposure monitoring are essential for professional video production. Shinobi 7 II supports on-device calibration using compatible Calibrite Display Pro HL or Plus HL probes and the Atomos Calibrator app.

Calibration can help maintain reliable HDR and Rec.709 monitoring, giving production teams greater confidence when making critical image decisions on set.

HDMI Connectivity and Flexible Power

The Shinobi 7 II includes one HDMI input and one HDMI output, allowing you to monitor a camera feed and pass the signal through to another display or production device.

USB-C connectivity provides additional functionality, including camera control for compatible cameras. For mobile production, the monitor can be powered using USB-C, an NP-F battery, or DC power through a compatible battery eliminator.

Built for Professional Production

The Atomos Shinobi 7 II is designed for filmmakers, DPs, directors, ACs, camera operators, and production crews who need a large, bright, and accurate camera monitor.

Its 7-inch daylight-viewable display, professional monitoring tools, HDR support, LUT capabilities, camera control, and flexible power options make it well suited for:

  • Narrative filmmaking
  • Commercial and corporate video
  • Documentary production
  • Outdoor filmmaking
  • Live and mobile video production
  • Video village monitoring
  • Remote camera monitoring
  • Professional camera rigs
  • HDR and Log workflows
