Apple Final Cut Pro 7

There are plenty of great new features that make it worthwhile to upgrade

The "Share" option is pretty cool--it basically puts much of the functionality of Compressor into FCP 7, so you're not going between two or even three apps to create a QuickTime movie, ProRes, devices (like the iPod, iPhone, and Apple TV), web (MobileMe or YouTube--you can even set up to post to your account), Compressor pre-sets, a DVD, Blu-ray (WOW!), etc. You can even create a basic menu for both the DVD and Blu-ray discs, but you won't be able to add more sophisticated features like audio commentary tracks and the like.
When you're ready to output, whether the project has been rendered or not, put an In and Out point at the beginning and end of the project and go to File, Share. A menu pops up giving you all your options to export. Select what you'd like, and you can add as many as you want (DVD, Blu-ray, YouTube, iPhone, ProRes 422--all to be encoded), and get ready to be impressed: unlike exporting via QuickTime, Compressor (this function is now gone), or QT Conversion, where you have to wait until everything is done before getting back to work, FCP 7 makes this a background process. read more...
