Avid Media Composer 2021.3 shakes it up

Recently, Avid released their latest updates for Media Composer with Avid Media Composer 2021.3

It's clear Avid understands the need for something new. This is all the more important since many of us have been working from home for over a year now.

IMF PACKAGE CREATION

Avid Media Composer's IMF Packaging workflows have had an all new overhaul. This new version is more robust, extensible, and powerful. 2020.3 introduces the amazing feature of creating IMF supplements through the new IMF window. No more need to re-encode the existing media time and time again!

BIN STATUS BAR

It's important to know what you're working with within your project. 2021.3 adds a new Bin Status Bar located at the bottom of the bin. It shows you all the info you need to know including the number of items it the ben. You can either choose a multi-select in the bin, or just view the information.

UI CUSTOMIZATIONS

Avid has once again listened to user feedback. They've added a bunch of new ways to customize the layout of Avid Media Composer. With 2021.3, there is now 2 new highlight colors that can adjust with the interface brightness setting, and an all new mid-gray skin which is darker than previous versions. Both help solve eye fatigue which plagues any editor.

TITLER+ UPDATES

Avid Media Composer 2021.3 updates Title+. Avid has enabled more functions and features directly within media Composer's window and mini tool bar. The result is more control over the titles without needed to open an new Effect Editor. You can also now rotate and shape text handles, and the text will automatically wrap within the text box!

FIND BIN FROM TIMELINE

This will make a lot of people's lives easier. The Find Bin command can now be accessed in the timeline itself! No selections required anymore. Just right click the desired segment and select "FIND BIN".

MOVING CLIPS WITHOUT OVERWRITING

This is a major improvement with Avid Media Composer 2021.3. Now the timeline can be non-destructive. In the video above, a great demo is shown of video layers going on top of each other and the files not deleting!

"It’s our commitment to change that’s clear in Avid Media Composer 2021.3. Not change for its own sake or because we just wanted something new, but change that improves your edit, helps you work faster and smarter, and lets you enjoy your work," wrote Kate Ketcham (Director of Product Management for Avid Media Composer).
