PTZOptics guide to remotely controlling PTZ Cameras

PTZOptics offers a great guide for controlling your PTZ cameras. Here are some options they suggest.

  1. Using a network-connected computer with PTZOptics Software: PTZOptics offers its own software for controlling their PTZ cameras. Once you connect your PTZ camera to your network, you can access and control it using the PTZOptics software. The software allows you to control your camera’s pan, tilt, and zoom, as well as adjust other settings such as brightness, focus, and white balance.

  2. Using a network-connected computer with NDI® Tools: NDI® (Network Device Interface) is a free protocol developed by NewTek that allows video equipment to communicate over a network. PTZ cameras that support NDI® can be controlled using NDI® tools, such as the free NDI® Studio Monitor application. This method allows you to control your PTZ camera using a network-connected computer, and it also enables you to use your PTZ camera as a source for live streaming and recording.

  3. Using cloud-based software such as Zoom: Cloud-based video conferencing software such as Zoom can also be used to remotely control your PTZ camera. PTZOptics offers a Zoom plugin that allows you to control your camera from within the Zoom interface. This method is ideal if you’re using your PTZ camera for video conferencing or remote presentations.

  4. Using a smartphone: PTZ cameras can also be controlled using a smartphone. PTZOptics offers a free mobile app that allows you to control your PTZ camera from your smartphone. This method is useful if you need to control your camera while on the go or if you need to control your camera remotely.

  5. Using your favorite video production software: PTZ cameras can be integrated with various video production software, such as Wirecast, OBS, vMix, and more. Once your PTZ camera is connected to your network, you can use your favorite video production software to control your camera’s movements and other settings. This method allows you to incorporate your PTZ camera into your existing video production workflow.
